Beside The Sea

The other day mum and I went to the beach to take some outfit posts for a guest post that I'm doing (coming soon) We shot a lot more than I realised, or needed, so I thought I'd get an outfit post and some other posts out of it too. I really liked the way these photos came out so I'm sure I'll be using them a lot for various things around the blog. I love this dress! I think it might be the best dress I've ever bought. I love the colours, I love the style, the fit, the cut, it's just brilliant. I wish that there were more in this style because I would by them all!
I know it doesn't really show in this post, but recently I've been giving the BoHo look a go, and I got to say I'm loving it. I've been putting feather in my hair and wraping/braiding with all kinds of ribbon and things, I love that you permanently have something in your hair, so even if you don't feel like doing a fancy hair do you still have something to make it a bit special and pretty. I have since dyed my hair back to bright red since these were taken so I don't feel as boring haha! The only problem is, things like that only really suit the BoHo look, so with this cutesie kinda look, it doesn't go so well...oh well, not like I mind! I've styled worse!

When we took these photo's it was super windy! Pretty much every other photo was a shot off my skirt blowing up and a nice view of my ass. I was so tempted to put one of them up because me and my mum spent so long laughing at them, I suppose that could be my sort of 'jumping' photo that people do at the end...ass shots from windy weather? What do you guys thing? haha...jokes! But seriously...you can see from my hair that it was crazy windy, luckily there was hardly anyone around although I'm pretty sure I saw one or two cars taking a peep.

What I Wore: Cardigan-New Look//Dress-Oasis//Belt-Miss Selfridges//Wedges-Next

I'll be along soon with a behind the scenes post (Might throw an ass shot in there just for fun) because me and mum had such a laugh and a really nice day, I'd love to share some pics of that too. I have a day off today, woop! I think I might start making some things as I've been itching to get back on the sewing machine now I've got my room all sorted, so sewing and singing loudly to Taylor Swift I thinks! Have a great Friday and look out for Day 4 of the 31 Day Blog Challenge this weekend. Love ya'll!!

Id just like to take a moment to exclaim my love for this girl. I used to not like her just out of pride and just because I didn't want to! But then I gave in, bought bother her CD's (with very odd looks from the store guy and was also told that 'that's what I-Tunes is for!') And I haven't listened to anything else since. That was about 2 weeks ago, and all I can talk about is Taylor Swift. I love her song writing, and that she writes all her own songs. I also think its great when you can hear the facial expressions when someone sings, if that makes sense?! I was in the card shop today looking for a birthday card when I saw that Taylor has a card line with song lyrics and really cool pictures, so naturally I bought one with the words from 'Fearless'. It's one of my favourite songs from her and I'm designing a tattoo from it!

In the Fearless album, the thank yous at the end really made me smile, so I thought I'd share them with you, even if you don't like her or like her secretly, I think you'll all agree that she's got a great outlook on everything :)

'This album is called "FEARLESS," and I guess I'd like to clarify why we chose that as the title. To me, "FEARLESS" is not the absence of fear. It's not being completely unafraid. To me, FEARLESS is having fears. FEARLESS is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, FEARLESS is living in spite of those things that scare you to death. FEARLESS is falling madly in love again, even though you've been hurt before. FEARLESS is walking into your freshmen year of high school at fifteen. FEARLESS is getting back up and fighting for what you want over and over again...even though every time you've tried before, you've lost. It's FEARLESS to have faith that someday things will change. FEARLESS is having the courage to say goodbye to someone who only hurts you, even if you can't breathe without them. I think it's FEARLESS to fall for your best friend, even though he's in love with someone else. And when someone apologizes to you enough times for things they'll never stop doing, I think it's FEARLESS to stop believing them. It's FEARLESS to say "you're NOT sorry", and walk away. I think loving something despite what people think is FEARLESS. I think allowing yourself to cry on the bathroom floor is FEARLESS. Letting go is FEARLESS. Then, moving on and being alright...That's FEARLESS too. But no matter what love throws at you, you have to believe in it. You have to believe in love stories and prince charmings and happily ever after. That's why I write these songs. Because I think love is FEARLESS'

31 day blog challenge: day 3

Your Favourite Quote
It was unbelievably hard to choose a quote for this. I love words and I have so many favourite quotes I could never choose a 'favourite' one. Whilst looking through my Funny Little Words board on pinterest (where I keep all my favourite quotes and words) nearly every one I was like 'I love that one' 'but I love that one too' 'ooh that one is really good' and It felt like which ever one I chose people would judge me on that quote and and I didn't want to be defined by it, so I suppose what I mean to say is that this isn't so much a 'favourite' quote its just one in a million and this is just one that I chose.I can't really say much, as this is pretty self explanatory and if I'm honest picking it was really stressful :S I really didn't like this day in the challenge, there were too many answers and I wanted to share them all but was determined to stick to just one. I know I'm being really stupid and this was supposed to be a bit of fun but I felt like I needed to pick something meaning full...so please check out my Funny Little Words board, and you can see what all my stress was about :D

Also This was going to be a weekly thing but I'm finding that too slow so its now going to be posted on a Tuesday and a Friday :)

Pet Portraits: Tyson

The other week a friend of a friend got wind that I like drawing animals and I'm pretty good, well I think so and I should hope so with a Fine Art degree! So she got in contact and asked if I could draw her pooch Tyson. I haven't drawn in ages so I thought It would be something fun to do to get me back into my creative mood. I went round to her house and took photos of  her absolutely gorgeous black lab who was so photogenic and loved to have his picture taken, he was so cute! He just sat there happily smiling away in the garden while I snapped him up. I got some great pics and he was such a breeze to draw. Thank goodness for short haired dogs! Now I do realize that the proportions are a little out on the first picture but it doesn't look as extreme in real life, my DLSR is on the blink and my little diggi cam is crap. He is in proportion, but his eyes are a tad on the small side, which I didn't realize till I'd finished. I'm meeting tomorrow to give here the picture and I hope she's pleased with it and will tell all her pet owner friends that I'm taking commissions! Obviously if she hates it I'll do it again, customer satisfaction and all!!If this hits off and I get a few more commissions, I've already got plans to make this into a little side biz, so here's hoping I can actually make some monies from my degree after all !!

Power Cam: Review

I need a new phone desperately! My current one is slowly giving up on life and I'm eyeing up I-phones every time I pass a phone shop. But my contract doesn't run out till October so while I'm waiting to send my phone of to mobile heaven I thought I'd try out a few different apps. My phone gets full really easy, I can't have more than two app's downloaded or the memory has 'insufficient storage' so I've never really downloaded apps but I thought I may as well get some and then delete it and get a new one, just to try some so I know what I want to get for the I-Phone.My mum got Power Cam on her I-Phone and I had a little play on it, and then got it on my HTC. It's so good! It was loads of effects and you can collage pictures too which is something that I've wanted to do for ages. It's not great on the HTC, the camera is rubbish and there aren't as many features, but the I-Phone version is great. It's completely compatible with Instagram too which is a bonus, the effects on both platforms work really well together. I can't wait to get my I-Phone and I'm pretty sure this will be one of the first things I download, I don't even use the phones original camera any more! The only problems are that you can't import photos to put effects on (not on the HTC anyway) and when you collage pictures together you have to have a tacky boarded as well, not just plain white or no boarded at all, but there is a light grey so it's not that much of a nuisance (again only on HTC, don't know about other phones) Here are some pics that I've taken the last few weeks using Power Cam...I'd just like to point out that this is the first cup of coffee that I have officially made at work! They said I have excellent milk!

This review is all me, I wasn't asked to do this or anything, I just thought you might like to know about a cool photo app that I like to use :)

Dinner Date

Yesterday my Nan took me out for a girly dinner date. My dad's on his honey moon and I've been house sitting and working my butt off at my new job. It feels like all I've been doing is working, eating, looking after the pigs and sleeping. Maybe that's because that is all I've been doing so it was lovely to get a bit dressed up and have a nice night out.We went to a great place in town that had the yummiest food ever! I was literally busting at the seems and have now named the maxi dress I wore 'my maternity' dress because I look like I'm sporting a baby bump when I've eaten too much! I had chicken pate for for starter and crispy beef for mains. Will definitely be going there again! So yeh, it was a lovely evening and it's been a great two weeks but I can't wait for dad to get back because I miss him! And house sitting kinda looses its appeal after the first week. This weekend is work which is going to be insanely busy as its bank holiday so that should be fun :/ (please not the sarcasm) But really, I love work and I'm actaully looking forward to it :) Have a lovely weekend and now I'm off to tidy the house in time for dad to get back!

31 Day Blog Challenge: Day 2

20 Facts About You

You wouldn't think but thinking of 20 facts about yourself is surprisingly hard! But I gave it a go anyway and actaully had a lot of fun. Some are stupid, some are funny and some are down right embarrassing, but I did say I was going to be honest and push some boundaries! This is also a stupidly long post because I felt the need to explain each one...so well done if you make it to the end, you get a cookie!

Fact 1: My middle name is Rebecca. When I was born my mum wanted to call me Holly and my dad wanted to call me Rebecca, of course mum won so I'm now Holly Rebecca. I'm glad because I don't think I look like a Rebecca...I certainly don't feel like one!

Fact 2: I love tea. I'm most definitely a tea drinker. I'm pretty sure it's not healthy to drink tea in excess as it causes dehydration but I don't care. I've recently discovered the joys of Roobios Tea, especially Vanilla Roobios from Starbucks (mmmm), I love Cherry Blossom Tea but haven't been able to find it anywhere to buy :(

Fact 3: I'm an only child. I always wanted a younger brother or sister but alas, no matter how hard I begged my parents to get me one it never happened. Maybe I'll get one if Sarah has kids...here's hoping!

Fact 4: I love Marmite. And when I say love, I mean LUUUUURVE! Just a big jar of yummy-ness. Nom nom nom nom nom nom!

Fact 5: I used to bite my toenails. I know, gross right! I must of been about 5(?) and I saw my cousin doing it so I coppied, cause in my eyes he was the coolest person around and I wanted to be just like him. I remember my other cousin caught me a few weeks later and told me I was disgusting, and by this time I'd got over my 'boy cousin crush' and cared more what the girls thought and I stopped immediately. I'm ashamed of my 5 year old self.

Fact 6: I'm terrified of flying. This is a big problem for my plans to go travelling next year but I'm sure I'll think of something to calm the nerves. All I can say is I feel sorry for who ever is sat next to me as there will be a lot of hand grabbing and freaking out.

Fact 7: My favourite animal is a Narwhal. They are so cute and live in some crazy conditions. I would love to see them in the wild and one of my dreams is to go to the Hudson Bay in Canada and go Narwhal spotting.

Fact 8: When I was really young I used to fancy Simba. Yep. That's right. I has a crush on a cartoon lion. After Simba it was Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty, then it was Rich from 5ive, then Chester Bennington from Linking Park and now it's a toss between Jenson Button and Michael Shanks...I have odd taste considering half of them are cartoon/fictional

Fact 9: I'm a Christian. I don't really parade that fact on the blog because when I started the blog I was having some issues and wanted to work it all out by my self, but I think I'm ready to share now my thoughts.

Fact 10: I'm scarred of clowns. When I was but a child I was bought one of those creepy china dolls, but a clown one that sat in a hoola hoop! You can imagine my horror when my darling mother hung it from the ceiling and I had to endure months of that face staring down at me until she finally gave in to my cries and took it down (or maybe she was just fed up of me crawling into their bed every night)

Fact 11: I'm obsessive. Not often and I can go along time without being bothered by anything but when something grabs me I find it very hard to let it go. It was worse when I was young and I would watch the same films over and over for weeks and would watching nothing else. It usually happens now with music and certain songs or a certain colour, and everything I do/buy/make will be the same colour.

Fact 12: It has taken me 22 years to stop biting my nails and let them grow. Now may fingers don't look stubby and I can finally paint them cool colours. All down to my nana constantly telling me 'boys wont want to hold you hand with nails like that!'

Fact 13: I have 5 tattoo's, and have plans for many, many more!

Fact 14
: When I was younger I couldn't tell the difference between reality and make believe. I used to believe that things that happened in the telly were real and the Disney films were real. Apparently I used to have nightmares all the times about the films that I would watch. Mum said Aladdin was the worst.

Fact 15: I have always wanted dreadlocks. I have come so close to dreading my hair so many times but something has always stopped me. I think it's the fact that I love my hair and the thought of not being able to do anything I want with it makes me a little sad. Maybe one day, but for now I'm gonna keep it wild and free.

Fact 16: I write songs. No one will ever read them (apart from a select few), and they will never be preformed, it's just enough that they are there and I have that creative outlet. Also I cant sing or play an instrument so cant do anything with them anyway haha!

Fact 17: I have nightmares nearly every night. I don't know why but some of them are horrific and most nights I'm scarred to even go to sleep because of what I might see.

Fact 18: I have 2 guinea pigs called Bettie and Monkey and a cat called Flik.

Fact 19: I hate cockroaches. Nasty, vile, evil creatures that shouldn't exist and all need to die!

Fact 20: I cry at everything. Movies, songs, adverts, when other people cry, when something epic happens, when old people drop ice creams on the floor...just...everything. I'm crying right now, its just an endless river of emotion.

New Job!

Guess What guys!? I got a new job!! Woooh! I am now a Barista in training at Starbucks! It is an awesome feeling to finally be doing something instead of sitting on my butt and praying that someone gets back to me soon. It's incredible how many companies just don't get back to you at all! Even just a 'sorry you weren't successful' would be better than silence! But any way, yeh, Starbucks! I've been wanting to work there for ages! It always seemed like such a cool place to work, and I wasn't wrong. I've been there two weeks now and I love it! I can't wait to go to work and I have such a blast when I'm there. The girls who I work with are so lovely and funny. There isn't one person there who I can see myself not liking. All the customers are lovely and I'm already starting to recognize the regulars. I haven't made any drinks yet, at the moment i'm just on the till, but even that is a task in it's self! I didn't realize how much you need to remember! You have to remember what the customers saying as your trying to write it on the cups while trying to remember the abbreviations for everything! I'm slowly getting it, and I haven't made any major mistakes yet, at least not when its been mad busy! I can't wait to be able to do everything properly and not feel like the new girl any more!Last night iwas the first time I was able to watch Once Upon A Time on the telly! It's getting so exciting now, and I'm really sad that its nearly over :( I really love this program and I really hope they make a second series, even though I have no idea how it could be continued :S Today is my day off and I'm going to spend it tidying the house and probably watching Harry Potter or something...obviously!

Loving: This lovely weather. We've had so many thunder and lightning storms recently it's been crazy! We had two in one night the other day! We've also had some crazy showers and blistering sun which in turn makes amazing rainbows. It's a bit weird for the middle of August but it makes life a little interesting and I do love a good down pour!

Thinking about: When to take 2 weeks holiday. I've been told that I have two weeks holiday to take before the end of the year but only four weeks to choose from. I don't really want to take 2 weeks off as I've had so much time off after Uni anyway, but I suppose I'd better not waste them, time off is time off and I'll sure ill be able to think of something productive to do!

Anticipating: I'm interviewing a band from London for this here blog and I can't wait to share it/them with you! I adore them, there awesome and I hope you like them too. Their called Ghosts of December and you should check them out. So watch this space, Its gonna be F.A.B

Listening to: Taylor Swift. I usually don't like admitting that, but what the hey, I like country music and she's country pop and her songs make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I love the way she tells a story with her songs, makes you feel more involved :)

Eating: Egg on Toast. I love egg on toast. I have no idea how to poach eggs so I have to fry them...ugh! I hate the white's on fried eggs so I usually end up just eating the yoke which has to be runny. So now you know my egg preferences, I'm sure your lives are so much better....

Wishing: That I could have my own place. I'm house sitting for pops while he's on his honeymoon and I love having the place to myself. If only I could re-decorate and style it how I want to :( One day I'll have my house but for now I have to be content with sticking to my little room. Pinterest isn't helping either, every time   I go on it I pin so much home stuff!

31 day Blog Challenge: Day 1

Introduction and Recent Photo
Hello there! For the newbies around here and some of you oldies too, my name is Holly. Hi! I find this topic quite hard to write about because I don't think I'm that interesting and also, I don't want to give anything away for the 30 days still to come, but I suppose I can tell you some basic facts about me. I'm 22 years old and I've just graduate from University doing a Fine Art degree. I have no real plan for my life apart from traveling next year. After that, well I suppose I'll figure it out when I get to it. I have just recently got a job at Starbucks (yeyah! Go me!) and have officially started my saving for travelling and have started to really thing about making plans!! I adore books! I will read ANY book and I NEVER judge a book by it's cover (obviously it helps if its got a snazzy cover!). I'm a bit (okay, a lot) geeky and love watching Sci Fi and reading comics.

And that is all I can say really because every time I think of something to write, it has its own day! I suppose I can think of it that I wont have a problem thinking of things to write about, but I don't, I'm just not that interesting. But despite that, I hope you all stick around to find out more about me. I'm going to do this little challenge as honestly as I can and break my comfort zones a little.

If you want to join me in this, I'd love to read your entries so leave a link and I can learn a little more about you too! I'm off work tomorrow so I think a Harry Potter marathon is in on the agenda tonight! DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY!

31 Day blog challenge

The other day someone pinned this little blog challenge onto Pinterest and I thought it was such a neat idea. Lately I've been struggling for things to blog about, not in a bad way, I've got loads of ideas I just need to figure them out first. So I thought this would be good to do while I'm sorting my life out :) I've decided to make it 31 weeks though instead of days, just because I know I would not be able to keep it up for 31 solid days. Also I've just recently gained a few new followers so doing this would be a cool little way for people to just find out a bit more about me :) I'm really excited about do this challenge, the list is such a fun one and I can't wait find cool ways to answer them. Some of them will be quite challenging but I want this to be honest and true and step out of my comfort zone a little bit. I cant wait to start this next week and hopefully it will encourage me to use my camera much more :)

Today my Mum at Matt get back from Winchester so I'm tidying up the house, watching a day long run of Wife Swap on DMAX and not getting changed all day :) I love these lazy Sundays!

Silverstone was a whole month ago. I've purposefully not blogged about it before now because I had taken so many pictures that if I had done it straight away I wouldn't of been able to decide which ones to use so I gave it time so it would be easier to whittle 1,300 down to 14. No easy task I can tell you that! So here are just a few snaps from the most awesome weekend ever! I don't care that it rained pretty much constantly, or that I still managed to get sun burnt, or that I was wearing 7 layers and a woolly hat in July, or that I had the worst nights sleep I think I've ever had, or that I got heat stroke because it was fantastic to spend some quality time with my pop's doing something that we both love (except camping, I love it pop's hates it!) It's something that I'm going to remember for ever, and it helps that I've got so many awesome pictures to remind me.

Jenson Button, you can almost see his face!

A little bit more prepared for the cold weather on the second day...woolly hats and gloves? Check!

Crash tires, luckily they weren't needed much!

Apparently Frodo came to watch the racing too, who'd of thought Hobbits like F1?!

Wheel to wheel racing...So fun to watch!

We searched high and low for doughnuts, luckily we were rewarded and man where they good.

That's my boy :)

A present to myself for years of loyal fan-girling :P

At least the rain was good for one thing. Cool atmospheric photos.

All excited for the big race!

the stewards were amazing sweeping the track free of water. They all deserve a medal.

Walking on the track was really cool. I wish I'd lay down though.

No major crashes just a few slips and slides on the wet ground.

Best seat in the house :)

One day I might share some more pictures with you but for now, these will do :) I don't want to bore you with endless pictures of cars and Jenson Button, apparently (according to my family) no one wants to sit through a slideshow of Formula 1 cars...who knew!?
