Something New and a Warning

Not much of a warning really more of a just in case. I have a little problem with being disorganized on the internet. I like everything to be in folders and in their proper place. Which is odd if you've ever seen my bedroom or know me in real life. Anyway, I keep all my blog photos on photobucket and It's finally got to me that their not in folders and put away neatly, so I'm having a little spring clean. If any of my photo's go missing I apologize   and I do intend to replace them as I go. Yes. That's how much it's bugging me. I'm going through my entire blog and re-uploading pictures just so the photos go in the right folders....chronic I know!

On a less mental note, you may have noticed my new button ------> It's a link to my new blog for all my art stuff. I'm not sure what I plan on doing after Uni but I thought I'd better make some sort of internet place for it all (folders again!!) so if I have any interest at my degree show, or someone just happens to stumble across it, they have somewhere to stumble into. It's not done yet, and I need to take some proper photos of my work, but it's there just so you know that it's in progress! It's quite exciting really, I feel all professional and grown up  :S Some one get me a colouring book and crayons fast!

Dropping In For A Chat...

It's a scorching 20 degrees here in Preston. That isn't really that hot, but for the middle of March that is crazy weather! The sky is that yummy blue that makes you think of beaches and the sea and I find myself daydreaming of swimming in the sea and falling asleep reading in the park or playing Frisbee. Everyone around my Uni halls has been having BBQ's and sunbathing on the grass and it makes me so happy to see what a bit of sun does to lift the spirits of everyone. Music is always playing across the courtyard and I'm constantly thinking that I'm in the the middle of a musical and everyone all of a sudden is going to burst into song and dance....The sun does funny things to my imagination.

I can safely say that my art is suffering in the heat. I haven't been able to stay a full day in the studio at all the last few weeks! The sun is just too good to waste and really, who wants to be stuck inside on days like today! I kinda hope that it rains next week so I can get some work done :S We only have 6 weeks left until the end of the year and I finish University for ever!! AAAAAGH! I'm going to be a grown up soon and in the real world....it's so scary! BUT TO EXCITING!!

Speaking of exciting (hahaha smooth)...do you remember  this post where I gushed at how amazingly brilliant Boy & Bear are? We'll I'm still completely in love with them and have quickly climbed the ladder of 'favourite band' to somewhere around the number 2 mark. We'll I'd kinda resigned myself that I would never see them in concert because they were Australian and not that well known over here but you never guess what?! THEY ARE!!! And real close to where I live and I'm super stoked that I got tickets!! I'm going to see Boy & Bear *does a little gig* WOOOH!

We'll this has been a rather random post, but I've enjoyed it :) I've felt like I've had nothing to blog about recently as I haven't done much apart from watch Stargate, Lost, eaten lots of food and painted some wood, and I'm pretty sure that would get old fast, but do not fear. This weekend is the Easter Holidays and I'm kick starting it with a weekend away with my mummy so lots of photos from that and many more from the rest of the two weeks off :) Do you have any plans for Easter? What have you been doing with this awesome weather that we've been having? Any gigs planned or bands being seen soon?

Days Like This...

Days like this are special. The days were nothing special happens but for some unexplained reason it feels special in your heart. Day's you remember for no particular reason other than they were just good days. Days that feel like there is magic in the air.

Today was one of those days.

The Hunger Games

Right I just saw The Hunger Games. Wow. Just WOW! i'm a bit of a movie-to-book snob and basically they have to be perfect or I don't like them. This one was just perfect. Obviously there were some alterations and I can live with that, but this film was just amazing! I'm a little bit speechless so i'll hand over to my friend Tim, with his review of The Hunger Games

Days Of Hunger.

110 Minutes. Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci & Donald Sutherland. Director: Gary Ross . Screenplay: Garry Ross

The world finally gets to watch what we've all been waiting for. Cult fans of Suzanne Collins classic read are finally fed with 'The Hunger Games' and they needn't be hungry anymore. The one film that can make young book/cinema worms close their 'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter' novels and leave other cinema releases starved for gate receipts is here. This cinematic event is the most hotly and highly anticipated films of the year. Right now 'The Hunger Games' has taken over 'The Avengers' and believe it or not even 'The Dark Knight Rises' in hype and excitement. Now the worlds box offices are next.

OK this writer admits he hasn't read the book. Somewhere between autobiographies and magazines I've missed the bandwagon. Still going in to this picture blind offers the opportunity for a fresh, unbiased perspective and what a reel turner this was. Genuinely this story is the truth. Its an ascending tall tale of tremendous reach and depth, as this survival of the fittest, 'Battle Royale' really comes out fighting, taking bow and arrow shots at everything from reality television to the reality of modern day society. Now this writer really wants to read the book. Cover to cover because this film is classic by the chapter, scene by scene.

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss shows more moxie and acting abilities then her turn as Mystique in 'X-Men: First Class'with another top rate performance leading the way with super-charged character and emotion. Along with heart-filled performances from love interests Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) and Gale played by Liam Hemsworth (part of the next great acting family), Lawrence is the young, hot future of acting. In fact from the most loved (Rue played beautifully by Amandla Stenberg) to hated (Cato played perfectly by Alexander Ludwig with hate and loathing) tributes of these games of hunger, new acting kids are made on the block. Established stars Elisabeth Banks and legends Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland bring their influential inspiration to some iconic characters too, but the classic turns come from some seemingly ageless and listlessly talented 50 year olds.

Woody Harrelson and Lenny Kravitz mentor and style these kids, showing that this isn't just a young persons game. The ever great Harrelson comes off his award worthy small ('Game Change') and silver ('Rampart') screen turns to show he really is one of the most versatile and therefore best actors around today. Put him in the top ten. Chart topping musician Lenny Kravitz also shows us he rocks the screen too. After 'Precious' time and his daughter Zoe's own appearance alongside Lawrence in 'X-Men', Kravitz shows he's heaven sent styling as character favourite Cinna. No wonder he didn't have to audition...this guy can act.

Take all the actors attributed, all the directing districts if suspense, shock, silence, tension, twists and turns what you are left with is the future of mainstream movie dominance. Even 'The Hobbit' may have a hard time becoming the lord of the rings as 'The Hunger Games' looks to ring the changes in cinema today. Sure some of the darkest and desperate elements of the book are skimmed through, but even when this movie doesn't go exactly by the book it still flips the script in the right way.

From terrifying prophecies to thrilling set-pieces one of the most read and talked about books is brought to life. No wonder this film was greeted in cinemas with cheers as round the world applause and surely awards are making their way. Even in true blockbuster year for movies and bestselling time for books this is the story that's getting told and told. From word of to the horses mouth, people aren't talking about much else. There can only be one winner now and more than the odds are in this films favour. Let the games begin. TIM DAVID HARVEY.

So have you seen it? Do you plan on seeing it? What did you think?

Galactic Biker

As you've probably already guessed, this outfit post was from Mothers Day. It was super sunny and such a fun day that I couldn't pick my favourite photos, so i'm sorry for the stupid amount of pics. This is fast becoming a favourite and a go-to-when-all-else-fails-but-you-still-want-to-look-and-feel-good outfit. It's so comfy and I think it looks pretty cool too. This was the first time id worn these leggins with it, but I think it works really well. Apart from the t-shirt pretty much all of this outfit was a steal. The jacket and shorts where both reduced from something like £35 down to £9! I love it when that happens! My converse are on the way out I think. It makes me sad when shoes that you've had for years start to break, but I've already got my eye on some yellow ones :D

Mum was so funny taking photos of me, acting like a proper photographer getting on the floor, telling me to look left, tilt my head more, smile, it was nice to have to not use a tripod and we had a laugh doing it too. I've found that bloggers seem to have trouble taking photos of themselves and I think its great when you can be so comfortable around someone and you don't mind them taking your picture. Also my mum knows how much my blog means to me, and understands that it's a platform for what I want to do in my future and any support and help she can give she does gladly. I'm very blessed to have her.

I wore: Jacket-Miss Selfridge//Top-River Island//Shorts-Miss Selfridge//Leggins-Top Shop//Shoes-Converse

Mum wore: Hoody-Jack Wills//Top-Jack Wills//Jeans-River Island//Shoes-Nike

These are some silly shots that we took. Me trying to hoist my self up over the gate way, Me doing my professional model pose and the out takes of us jumping, or trying to jump!

Loving: The Sun! It's March and its sunny, whats up with that?! Not that I'm complaining at all! I love sitting in the sun and soaking up some vitamin D. Also Running in this warm weather is much nicer than the bitter cold we had a few weeks ago. The only down side is I don't want to go into the studio on a nice day like this. Who want's to be cooped up inside on a day like this!?

Thinking about: My birthday. I know it's like 2 months away but it's Star Wars fancy dress (of course!) and I'm stressing a little over my costume as I want to look cool! I keep switching between two so I really need to make my mind up and get making!

Anticipating: The weekend. Both my friend Tim and my mum are coming up to visit this weekend and I cant wait! I love hanging out with friends and family, and when they take the time out to visit me in Uni it makes it that extra bit special. Hopefully this nice weather will stick and we can drink coffee in the sun and then go watch The Hunger Games. EXCITED!

Listening to: Sleeping At Last. I adore them! Seriously, I've had the Yearbook album on repeat for about 3 weeks. I have listened to nothing else. It's so beautiful and it gives me the tingles every time. I've already decided that I'm having one of there songs as a tattoo because I love it so much!

Eating: Healthy! Or trying to *hides bar of chocolate* Because I've taken up running I'm trying to eat more healthy too but it's not working. I keep eating chocolate and sweets. Me and my friend Hollie have started sharing meals though so it's not so bad....right?!

Wishing: That Uni was over. Not in a negative way because I'm enjoying it and it's going quite well. But I've spent my whole life in education and I feel like i'm ready to move on to the next adventure. I'm surprised that I've stuck out this long actually. Usually I'll get bored and move on, so it's definitely time for a change. I can't wait to see what the future holds :)

What are you doing/wishing/thinking about? I'd love to see what's going on, just link back and I'll check it out :)

On My Bookshelf Vol2:Illustration by Juxtapoz

This book literally saved my degree. I think I would of either given up or been flunked if I hadn't got this for Christmas last year. It's got so many great artists like David ChoeJeremy FishTomer HanukaKozy N DanChristopher LeeMode 2Eduardo RecifeSANAmy SolJeff Soto all with stunning pictures and a little bit of writing. I hate art books with loads of writing and not many images, what is the point?! I love this book and I think its going to get very tatty very soon with the mount that I flip through the pages. Unfortunately it's been discontinued but you can see all the amazing artists on the Juxtapoz website.
