DIY: Ruby Red Shoes

Today I did my first DIY in forever! I've stockpiled loads to do when I have the time, and the pile is getting a little crazy, so I thought id try one that doesn't involve a sewing machine and I already had the things I needed. I saw this post over at A Beautiful Mess and I loved it. I've seen a few of these posts and it's been on my must try list for ages. I just happened to have red paint and some old heels that needed spicing up a bit.

I did take before photos but I didn't realize my camera didn't have it's memory card in until after I started painting, dang it! But you get the general gist from Elsie's post.
Materials
. Shoes
. Red Acrylic Paint
. Big and Small Paint Brush
. Water

Just mark off where you want to paint and then paint :) I used a little water because my paint was too thick, but the shoes absorbed the water so I had to do 3-4 coats, but you just do it till the red is as bright as you want it. I used a smaller paintbrush to get in the holes. You can put a pattern on it like Elsie did too, I'm not sure what I want to do with mine yet, so I'm going to wait a little and see what I feel like. I'm going to go to town tomorrow and see if I can find any red laces to go as well.

And there you go! Brand new shoes for no pennies at all!! I love them, and the plus side is,no one will have these shoes anywhere :) Perfect for the individuals out there!
